SSH client & terminal for Mac

Every server.
One click away.

Terminat is an SSH client and terminal for Mac that remembers your connections. Save a server once, then open it with one click — in tabs, side by side, or all at the same time.

Download from GitHub See what it does

Which IP was it? Root or deploy? Port 22 or 2222? Which key? Terminat remembers all of it, so you don't have to. One window, every server you work on, a single click to get in.

Saved SSH connections

Save it once.
Connect forever.

Paste the ssh command you already use and the fields fill themselves — or type them in. Pick a folder, choose how to sign in, hit Save & Connect. From then on it lives in the sidebar.

Name & folder
Call it web-01, not 10.0.1.12, and file it where it belongs.
Paste SSH command
ssh user@host -p 22 -i key, then Apply. Done.
Authentication
Password (kept in macOS Keychain), an identity file, or none.
Keep Alive
Stops idle sessions from dropping while you're away.

Groups, search & SSH config

Your servers,
in order.

Put servers in folders — Production, Staging, Clients, whatever fits how you work. Already have a ~/.ssh/config? Its hosts show up on their own, in an SSH Config folder. Too many to scroll? Press ⌘K and type.

Tabs & split layouts

See every session at once.

Each connection opens in its own tab. Pick a layout — Single, Columns, Rows or Grid — and they line up on one screen, your local shell right next to your servers. Need one bigger? Expand any pane with a click.

Broadcast to multiple servers

Type once.
Run everywhere.

Turn on Broadcast and everything you type goes to every open pane. Click a pane’s title to leave it out. Done? Hit Stop, or toggle it with ⌥⌘B.

The details

Small things, done properly.

macOS Keychain

Saved passwords go into macOS Keychain — never into a plain text file. Or sign in with an identity file instead.

Plays well with ~/.ssh/config

Show the hosts you already have, pick another config file, reload it any time. Uses the ssh already on your Mac.

Your local shell, too

Open zsh tabs on your Mac right next to your remote sessions. One app for both.

Always know where you are

The status bar shows the active session, how long it’s been open and the terminal size. No more typing into the wrong server.

Make it yours

Terminal themes, any monospaced font and size, System, Light or Dark — and your own colors for the active pane and Broadcast.

Room to focus

Hide the sidebar, or expand one pane to fill the window. Bring everything back with one click.

Is Terminat for you?

An honest answer, in thirty seconds.

Yes, if…

  • You connect to more than one or two servers.
  • You keep IPs and usernames in notes, chats or your head.
  • You run the same command on several machines.
  • You want to watch a few servers side by side.
  • You work on a Mac.

Probably not, if…

  • You're on Windows or Linux. Terminat is macOS only.
  • You rarely leave your own machine and never SSH anywhere.
  • You have one server and the command is already in your muscle memory.
  • You live in tmux inside a plain terminal and don't want a sidebar.

Questions, answered.

What is Terminat?

Terminat is an SSH client and terminal for macOS. It saves your SSH connections in a sidebar, so you can open any server with one click, in tabs or side by side.

Does Terminat read my ~/.ssh/config?

Yes. Hosts from your SSH config show up on their own in an SSH Config folder. You can point Terminat to another config file and reload it any time in Settings.

Where are my SSH passwords stored?

Saved passwords are stored in macOS Keychain, never in a plain text file. You can also sign in with an identity file (SSH key) or let Terminat supply no credential at all.

Can I run one command on several servers?

Yes. Turn on Broadcast and everything you type goes to every included pane. Click a pane’s title to skip it, and toggle Broadcast with ⌥⌘B.

Can I import a connection from an ssh command?

Yes. Paste a command like ssh user@host -p 22 -i ~/.ssh/id_ed25519 into New Connection, click Apply, and the fields fill themselves.

Is Terminat available for Windows or Linux?

No. Terminat is a native macOS app. You can download the latest release from GitHub.
